The weather is warm; too warm for my taste. It's imperative to get out early. I checked yesterday and realized I needed to get Farrah out as close to dawn as possible. She's still fairly high in weight, at 826 this morning at the house. This weight included a transmitter cap on a bewit, bell and bewit, and convertible jesses. I walked the dog, put Cisco out, and stopped at Whataburger for a breakfast taquito. All good so far. I got to Katy, started to get Farrah geared up, and realized I didn't have her glove. Not the end of the world, but her glove has two different direct-to-anklet attachment methods for retrieving her at end of hunt. My spare glove has rather heavy clips. So Farrah flew today with convertible jesses (field and mew), a transmitter, and bell on her legs. Way too much gear. Typically she flies with just anklets on her legs, transmitter on the tail, usually no bell. I was going to wait until she was 100% molted out before I moved the transmitter off her legs to a tail clip. Today she dropped another tail feather. Hmm. Also I had an intermittent problem with my LL XLF3 transmitter. Possibly operator error.
We headed out to the very damp field in the humidity and warmth. Farrah chased several field birds in the thick grass before she caught one. She caught some game birds a week or two ago. This one today was caught in some thinner grass, not too surprising.
